Unexpected turn of events

Sadly my boy won't be graduating this weekend...but even sadder, the students of Dorset lost a friend to a tragic accident last night. He died in a motorcycle accident right across the road from the school. They had a tough day at school today but had many members of the clergy and councellors on hand to talk with them and just sit and be there for them as they cried. The decision was made that the grad would not go ahead tomorrow night as planned as this boy had close family who were to attend the grad and also many of them were close friends with him.
I taught this boy when he was in grade 7. He was a one-of-a-kind kid and made everyone laugh. He was a bit of a "ticket" (as they say in Newfoundland) but it was all in fun for him. And everyone knew he was carrying on for a laugh and wanted his friends to laugh along with him. And even sadder than that is that his mom is in the hospital struggling for her life as well. She has cancer and they almost lost her a couple of times a few days ago.
Please send up some prayers for the whole family and the students and staff of his school. I remember as a student in my last year, just before school was out for the summer, we lost 4 in a tragic accident. What a sad situation. And this incident reminds me of what we were all going through and I totally know what the kids are all feeling there. It's a hard lesson to learn and it's probably the first time when you realize that not just old people die but our FRIENDS can be taken from us in an INSTANT and we are left to deal with the pain and hurt and sense of loss.

Sooooooo happy!!!!

Sisterhood of Scrap has a new address!!! We actually have a FORUM now!!! Wahoo!!! I am super excited about this new venture!!! I would REALLY love for you to join us! We will be announcing a RAK giveaway in the next day or so, so if you join and post at least 20 "good" posts ( that means they aren't just replies like "Me too" or "good idea" but something with a bit of MEAT on them, either scrap related or non-scrap related!!! hehe!) then you will qualify for the RAK!!! So, what are ya waiting for!!! Get over there and register and start posting. Now, not everything is "cleaned" up over there yet as we took over from Zoe who closed down her Scrap My Memories store (whaaa!!!!makes me sad,though...) but she graciously gave us the forum. What a darling!!! Thanks Zoe!!!

Here's a card I made this morning. We got the morning off!!! The power went out, so what do you do when the power is out! Pull out the paper and have some fun!!!

SISTERS ARE FRIENDS FOR LIFE!!!
How true!!!

Here's my Scrapping Out Loud layout for this week. The challenge was to scrap a crappy pic. I used the only pic I have of Alexander's curls when he was a baby!!! The pic didn't come out well. It's very bright but you can still see the beautiful curls!!

OH MY CURLS!When I got it cut and the curls didn't grow back like that anymore...until now! He has let his hair grow out. Here's the back of his head now!!! See the resemblance!!!

...and a happy HUMP DAY to ya!!!

Wow, it's the middle of the week again!!!

Here are a couple more pics of the snow we got. This was the view on Monday morning. We got the morning off school because of this...
Here's my layout for Scrapping Out Loud. I was inspired by Abba's song "Slipping Through My Fingers".
The words across the bottom say:
"Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture and save it from the funny tricks of time" It's a line from the song. My boy is graduating this month and it's hard to even think that he is old enough to be finished school and becoming a young man!!!

Absolutely gross and totally uncalled for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a WINTER STORM WATCH for our area!!!

"Green Bay - White Bay
3:49 PM NDT Saturday 9 May 2009
Winter storm watch for
Green Bay - White Bay issued

Snow will develop Sunday afternoon and persist overnight. Snowfall amount in excess of 15 centimeters or more are possible.

This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system currently over eastern Ontario will approach Newfoundland tonight. Southeast winds gusting to 70 km/h will develop ahead of the warm front associated with the low overnight. These winds will increase to 80 gusting to 120 km/h on Sunday morning and diminish in the evening.

Rain associated with the low will begin to change over to snow late Sunday for much of the island except eastern and southern Newfoundland as temperature drops below freezing. Total snowfall accumulations could possibly exceed 15 centimeters for parts of the northeast coast. As well strong winds will give local blowing snow. In addition public should be aware that there is still some uncertainty with respect to the track of the system and warnings or watches may have to be extended."

Oh, come on now!!! So NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's almost the middle of MAY for crying out loud!!!
I'm HOPING it's not going to happen, but if it does, I'll post pics of it so you will believe!!!! I know, it sounds unbelievable, but I've got VIDEO of a snow storm in JUNE with the snow plow out in full force (This was in '91 or '92)!!! So a snow storm in May is possible!!!! Whaaaa!!!
